Tesla in India ,is now a reality . Tesla has registered its Subsidiary in India, Karnataka as Tesla India Motors and Energy Private limited.

Company was registered in India in January 2021.There factory in India is situated in the outskirts of Bengaluru.

About Tesla

Tesla was started in 2003 . It is the worlds largest Electric Car Maker. There current worth is $773 billion as of March 2021 .Company made a record by completing manufacturing of 1 Million Electric Cars in 2020.They are based Palo Alto, California.Tesla Factory in India is situated in the outskirts of Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Tesla is not only in the business of plug-in Cars ,In addition to that they also owns a subsidiary called SolarCity, which is the largest installer of solar panels in USA.

The current CEO of Tesla Inc. is Elon Musk , who is also the richest Person in the World.

Tesla Car Price Comparison India and USA

Don’t get your hopes high with the Tesla Prices In USA . The below mentioned prices of USA , are going to be of extremely low as compared to India. High prices in India is because of the taxes including GST on Electric Vehicles in India at around 5 %, on road charges on Electric Vehicles in India at around 5 % , and biggest charge of Import Duty in India .

This is the same reasons why Iphones are Costlier in India as compared to USA.

Also for the sake of Comparison, we will only consider Tesla Cars available for sale in India.

Tesla Model 3

Their cheapest car Tesla Model 3 was announced in 2016 . Model 3 would be launched in India in the month of June 2021 . Its US pricing is at 25.6 Lakh rupees.

Ex-Showroom price of Tesla Model 3 is India is expected to be at 60 Lakhs INR.

In India Tesla Model 3 will be available in 2 models:

  1. Standard Plus : Standard model can run up to 423 Km on a single full charge.
  2. Long Plus : Long Plus Model is expected to give 568 Km on a single charge.

Tesla Model S

Tesla Model S which is sedan and somewhat of more price than Tesla Model 3. Model S would be launched in India in the Month of July 2021 . Its pricing in USA is around 58.7 Lakh Rupees for the base Model.

Ex-Showroom price of Model S is India is expected to be at 1.5 Crore INR.

Tesla Model S in India will be made available in 3 different models namely :

  1. Long Range : Model S long Range Model could cover up to 660 KM on a single full charge.
  2. Plaid : Plaid is expected to give 627 Km on a single charge.
  3. Plaid+ : This version could give 837 Km , just on single charge.

Tesla Model X

This version is going to be the most expensive one and an SUV by car type. Expected launch date for this car could be in January 2022 and it is priced at 1.1 Crore rupees in USA . While in India ,it is expected to be priced at a heavy amount of about 2 Crore INR, surely you can think of buying a Flat or a land at this price.

Now, even though you are not going to buy this, these are the model variants of Tesla Model X in India :

  1. Long Range : We could expect it going to 579 Km on a single charge.
  2. Plaid : Plaid version gives a little less , which is about 547 Km on a single charge.

Even though , it is hard to tell when Tesla will actually be available to India . But there are some fortunate enough who have already got themselves Brand new Tesla car in India. Some of these rich Indians who owns a Tesla are :

  1. Mukesh Ambani Chairman Reliance and India’s richest man owns a Tesla Model S100 D , who got it for 1.5 crore Rupees.
  2. Pooja Batra ,who is a former Bollywood actor, owns Tesla Model 3 , which costed her around 40 Lakhs INR. She currently lives in Los Angles.
  3. Indian bollywood Actor Ritesh Deshmukh owns Tesla Model X. This was gifted to him by his wife Genelia Deshmukh .This gift would have easily costed Genelia 2 Crore INR.
  4. Prashant Ruia is the CEO of Essar Conglomerate , is also the proud owner of a Blue Tesla Model X. He must be wealthy cause he paid 2 Crore for his Tesla. He is also the first Indian to buy a Tesla.
